Semi-Annual Meeting
The 2026 Semi-Annual Meeting is April 27-28, 2026 in Wilmington, North Carolina.

The meeting will take place at Cape Fear Community College, a short walk from the hotel. There will be a reception Monday evening at the Hotel Ballast with hors d’oeuvres and cocktail hour with a cash bar.
Logistics
Hotel
The Hotel block for the meeting is at Hotel Ballast with availability from Friday April 24th, to Wednesday April 29th. There is a complimentary airport shuttle from 6am -11 pm, please arrange with reception. Breakfast will be provided.
Fellows
There will be a fellow event on Sunday evening, April 26th.
The journal club will be on Tuesday, April 28th over breakfast at the hotel and is required for fellows. The article being discussed is Quality of Care, Hospital Bypass, and Follow-Up Visits Following an ED Visit for Rural Heart Failure Patients . Please be prepared to discuss with our keynote speaker, Dr. Mark Holmes.
Posters
Submit your abstracts here if you are interested in presenting a poster at the Semi-Annual Meeting by April 3rd. Please plan to print your posters and bring them with you. Posters will be set up on Monday April 27th, with a poster session taking place on Tuesday, April 28th.
Specifications: posters must not be larger than 36×48 in size. For template requests, please email ruralpro-care@uw.edu.

Project Update Session Guidance
- 15 min presentation
- 5 min Q&A
Suggested order of presentation:
- (1-2 min) Brief slide on project aims to set the stage. Do not dwell on this as per AHA request (see below)
- (8 min) Progress towards those aims, with roadblocks/challenges + strategies described concurrently for each activity/aim
- (2-3 min) Trainee updates
- (3 min) Any preliminary results or findings from aims progress and any partnership updates.
Additional guidance from OAC:
- spend time presenting on the PROGRESS on each of the aims/goals based on the project’s research plan, NOT re-presenting proposed aims.
- overall progress on the center/training program as well as specific progress on each project including roadblocks/challenges and strategies that have been implemented to improve progress.
- update on the progress of the collection/analysis of retrospective data AND/OR recruitment efforts including any strategies to improve recruitment efforts for projects that are actively enrolling participants, if applicable.
- update on the training and research efforts of fellows/trainees, if applicable.
- update on community partnership and how the partnering institution has been involved in a substantive way.

CBPR In-Person Intensive
Please plan to arrive by Friday, April 24, 2026 in order to attend the in-person intensive taking place Saturday April 25 – Sunday April 26th. Sessions will last all day and will be at Hotel Ballast. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
All online modules must be completed in order to attend.
